Walkathon Activities

Children living with cancer foundation walkaton started over Ten years ago, Walkathon is a sponsor walk whereby one can sponsor him/herself a certain amount of money for a certain no of km. CLWCF walkaton basically is to create awareness for childhood cancer. Both adults and children participate in the walk.

The walk usually takes place in September which happen to be the month for childhood cancer awareness. Companies,schools,volunteers, the media,cancer patients and parents,survivors,the government are encouraged to sponsor someone or themselves. An ambulance, the police, FRSC, Red Cross, Doctors and nurses are available for the Walkathon. A music band all participate in the walkaton. One of our major sponsors has been Afriglobal.

The walkaton kicks off at 8 am on a Saturday morning the group gathers in LUTH idiaraba and proceeds on the walk from LUTH idiaraba to the National stadium surulere, singing and dancing sharing information on Childhood cancers to the public.Our banners are quite visible and we wear our branded children living with cancer Foundation shirts.sharing flyers to motorists and passersby to create awareness about childhood cancer. The walkaton group walks the stadium then back to LUTH idiaraba where a short lecture about childhood cancer is given then refreshment. The walkaton ends at about 10am.
